The Challenge
Every three years, hundreds of hikers take on the 35-mile high-level challenge walk in aid of Cancer Research UK.
5th Llangollen Round Challenge (2025)
Our heartiest congratulations to all those who took part in the 5th Llangollen Round Challenge! Whether you completed the course in one day or two, everyone agreed this is a true mountain challenge, rewarded with spectacular scenery.
2025 Event Summary
- 707 walkers registered and set out on Saturday morning.
- 584 completed the full demanding circuit.
- A record £143,000 + £18,000 Gift Aid was raised directly for Cancer Research UK.
The committee extends sincere gratitude to all walkers, sponsors, volunteer marshals, mountain rescue teams, and support crews who made this magnificent achievement possible.
Challenge Format
The organized challenge walk is staged every three years due to the complex safety logistics of managing a mass-participation hike across rugged, high mountain terrain.
Participants choose between two formats:
- The 1-Day Challenge: 35miles completed in a single continuous push, starting in early morning and finishing at the Wharf in Llangollen.
- The 2-Day Option: Divide the walk across the weekend, resting overnight before conquering the second half.
